Zack. Nothing here by accident.

Who I am

I am a high school student who lifts five mornings a week, reads more than he used to, and is trying to build a life that still makes sense at thirty. This started out as an assignment. Somewhere around the second page it stopped being one.

A life you pick instead of drift into.

Sixteen years out

Who I want to be at 30

Married. A house people actually want to come to. Still training, still reading the Bible before I touch my phone, and enough money that it stops being the first thing I think about in the morning. I wrote the whole profile out, because a goal you have not written down is just a mood you had once.

Where it comes from

Nobody builds a life by himself.

My family, my church, and two coaches who would not let me coast. Almost everything I believe I got from watching somebody live it first and deciding I wanted whatever that was.

By the numbers

The honest version, including the bad one.

Two hours before school, or it does not happen

I started because I was the skinniest kid on the team. I kept going because it is the one part of the day nobody else can do for me.

The verse I keep coming back to

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. That is the whole argument in two lines, and I lose it about twice a week.

Four books last year. Nine so far this year. It is not supposed to be a competition and it absolutely is.

It takes four extra minutes and people treat you differently. I am not going to pretend that is deep, but it is true.

One hour of school work before the phone

The rule is simple. The hard part is the first fifteen minutes, and I lose that fight more often than I want to write down.

My mom started it. I complained about it for a year. It is now the best hour of my week and I am not going to admit that to her.

Nothing deep about it. My head is just quieter after two hours of walking uphill with no signal.

The Whole Thing

Ten values, five priorities, six habits, and a rule of life I wrote to be kept rather than admired. It is all on the other three pages.
